Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Vigilant Privacy

What is Vigilant Privacy?
Vigilant Privacy is a subscription service that helps you take control of your personal information. We submit data broker removal requests, request your consumer reports from 37+ agencies, generate credit dispute letters, and opt you out of prescreened offers, telemarketing calls, and direct mail marketing.
How is Vigilant Privacy different from other privacy services?
Most privacy services only remove your data from a few hundred brokers. Vigilant Privacy monitors 2,359+ data brokers. More importantly, we're the only service that also handles CRA disclosure requests (37+ agencies), credit dispute automation, GLBA bank opt-out letters, and prescreened offer opt-outs. We also never sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.
How much does it cost?
Protection is $9.95/month or $99/year (save $20). Protection Plus is $12.95/month or $129/year (save $26). Both plans include a free 7-day trial with no credit card required.
What happens during the free trial?
During your 7-day free trial, you get full access to all features. We immediately submit your prescreened offer opt-out, Do Not Call registration, and DMA mail opt-out. You can search yourself to see which brokers have your data. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your dashboard or by emailing support@vigilantprivacy.com. Monthly subscriptions continue until the end of the billing period. Annual subscribers can request a prorated refund for unused months. We delete all your personal data within 30 days of cancellation.
How long does it take to remove my data from brokers?
Most people-search sites process removal requests within 2-4 weeks. Some brokers take up to 90 days. Because brokers constantly re-collect data from public records, we automatically re-submit removal requests every 90 days to keep your information off these sites.
What is a CRA disclosure request?
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to see what information consumer reporting agencies have about you. There are over 37 agencies beyond just Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, including employment screening companies, check verification services, and specialty reporting agencies. We request your files from all of them.
Do you guarantee my data will be removed?
We guarantee we will submit removal requests to every broker in our database. However, broker compliance is beyond our control. Some brokers may re-list your information from public records, which is why we re-submit every 90 days. We do not guarantee removal of accurate information from credit reports.
Is my information safe with Vigilant Privacy?
Yes. All data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 encryption and in transit with TLS 1.3. We use self-hosted servers, not shared cloud environments. We never use tracking cookies, analytics trackers, or advertising scripts. We encourage you to paste our privacy policy into any AI chatbot and ask if you should have concerns.
What is the Search Yourself tool?
Search Yourself is a free tool on our homepage that checks 15 major people-search sites for your personal information. It shows you which sites have your data exposed. No signup required. Subscribers get ongoing monitoring and removal across 2,359+ brokers.
