Vigilant Privacy was built on a simple principle: your personal information belongs to you. Unlike many companies in the privacy industry, we do not sell, share, trade, or monetize your data in any way. We collect only what is necessary to provide our services, and we delete everything when you cancel.

When you create an account, we collect:
- Your name, email address, and password
- Your mailing address, phone number, and date of birth (used to identify your records with data brokers and consumer reporting agencies)
- Payment information (processed and stored by Stripe, Inc. — we do not store your credit card numbers)
When you use our services, you may provide:
- Social Security Number (last 4 digits only, used for consumer reporting agency disclosure requests)
- Names of financial institutions (for GLBA opt-out letters)
- Details about data broker profiles you want removed
Information We Collect Automatically
We collect minimal technical data necessary to operate the service:
- Server access logs (IP address, timestamp, pages visited) retained for 30 days for security purposes
- Error logs for troubleshooting, retained for 30 days
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not use tracking cookies
- We do not use analytics trackers (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.)
- We do not collect browsing history
- We do not collect device fingerprints
- We do not collect behavioral data or usage patterns for advertising
- We do not collect geolocation data beyond what is necessary for service delivery
How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information exclusively to:
- Submit data broker opt-out and removal requests on your behalf
- Request consumer report disclosures from consumer reporting agencies
- Generate credit dispute letters for errors found in your reports
- Submit prescreened offer opt-outs, Do Not Call registrations, and DMA mail opt-outs
- Generate GLBA opt-out letters for your financial institutions
- Communicate with you about your account and service status
- Process subscription payments through Stripe
How We Protect Your Information
- All personal data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
- All data transmission uses TLS 1.3 encryption
- Our servers are self-hosted on infrastructure we control (not shared cloud environments)
- Access to subscriber data is restricted to authorized personnel only
- We conduct regular security reviews of our systems
Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing, advertising, or data brokerage purposes. Period.
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With data brokers and consumer reporting agencies: We submit your information to these entities solely to request removal of your data or disclosure of your consumer reports, as directed by you
- With Stripe, Inc.: Our payment processor receives your payment information to process transactions. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy
- As required by law: We may disclose information if required by court order, subpoena, or applicable law
Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain your information for as long as your subscription is active
- Cancelled accounts: Upon cancellation, we delete all personal information within 30 days. We retain only anonymized, aggregate data that cannot be linked back to you
- Server logs: Automatically deleted after 30 days
Your Rights
All Users
- Access: You may request a copy of all personal information we hold about you
- Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time
- Portability: You may request your data in a machine-readable format
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share your information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Other State Privacy Laws

Children's Privacy
Vigilant Privacy is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
Third-Party Services
Our website and application do not include social media tracking pixels, advertising network scripts, third-party analytics services, cross-site tracking technologies, or affiliate tracking codes. The only third-party service integrated into our platform is Stripe for payment processing.
Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes to this privacy policy via email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The current version is always available at this page.
